High School Career Planning

The Career Development Process involves the completion of a variety of activities geared to help students determine or confirm their desired life direction. This is the initial action that must be taken in order to select an appropriate career or college major.

The greatest challenge and the greatest need for career development programs occur at the high school level. The need is that graduation plans dictate certain educational selections that require guided reflection and decision-making. Mrs. Joyner is available to help all students through the career development process.

CFNC

College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) is a premier college access program in the United States with the mission of increasing the college-going rate in North Carolina. Its Internet website, CFNC.org, provides a comprehensive resource to assist all North Carolina students and families in planning, applying and paying for college (source northcarolina.edu).

This site also has tools that assist students assess career interests as a means of planning for their future.  One of these tools is the "Career Key," which is a short survey that helps gauge each person's Hollande Codes, and thus which career paths would best fit their interests.

The instructions below will help each student create an account, so that they can utilize all of the Career and College Planning Tools available through CFNC including college research, applications, transcripts, career information, and scholarships.

Step 1:
Go to www.cfnc.org and Click on Create My CFNC Account

Step 2:
Beside High School Student Select Go

Step 3:
Complete the Date of Birth section

Step 4:
To select our high school you MUST CLICK THE FIND BUTTON.  Choose Apex High from drop down box, then select

Step 5:
(1 & 2) Type in your: First and Last Name.
(3) Scroll down to choose: Year of HS Graduation (2019).
(4 &5) Type in your: E-mail address (that you check most often).


Step 6:
CFNC will assign an Account Name (Write it down)
(1 & 2) Type in your Password (in both places).
 (3 & 4) Choose a Question & Answer
(in case you forget your password).

Step 7:
Type in your Permanent address:
(1, 2, 3, & 4) Street, City, State, and Zip Code
For Mailing address: (5) Check the Box: Same as Above 
(6) Gender: Scroll down & choose: Male (boy) OR Female (girl)
