Career and College Promise

Career and College Promise, or CCP, allows eligible high school Juniors and seniors (2.8 unWeighted GPA or higher) to take college courses at Wake Tech (Also Central Carolina Community College). It’s sometimes referred to as dual enrollment, and the program has had other names in the past (Huskins, Learn and Earn).
Big Update!
CAREER AND COLLEGE PROMISE (DUAL ENROLLMENT)
PLEASE USE THE LINK BELOW TO SIGN UP FOR ONE OF THESE SESSIONS. IT IS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM. THIS IS THE PROGRAM THAT ALLOWS ELIGIBLE HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS AND SENIORS TO TAKE TUITION-FREE COLLEGE COURSES AT WAKE TECH.  THERE ARE FACE-TO-FACE AND ONLINE COURSES AVAILABLE.  IF THE STUDENT MAKES A C OR HIGHER IN A “UGETC” (UNIVERSITY GENERAL EDUCATION TRANSFER CREDIT) COURSE, THE CREDIT IS GUARANTEED TO COUNT AT ANY 4 YEAR PUBLIC COLLEGE IN THE STATE OF NC (MANY PRIVATE COLLEGES AS WELL)!  WE HAVE HEARD FROM THE ADMISSIONS DEPARTMENT AT UNC CHAPEL HILL AND NC STATE, THAT THEY VIEW THESE COURSES EXACTLY THE SAME AS AP LEVEL HIGH SCHOOL COURSES IN TERMS OF RIGOR (SAME GPA - 5 POINTS FOR AN "A" IN COLLEGE TRANSFER PATHWAYS WHERE CLASS IS 3 SEMESTER HOURS OR MORE)!  THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO SAVE MONEY FOR COLLEGE AND IMPROVE YOUR COLLEGE APPLICATION RESUME WHILE GETTING ELECTIVES (AP RIGOR-LEVEL) TOWARDS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION!

We've also created a Public Google Doc for all new and returning CCP students with FAQs, relevant forms, and a link for unofficial transcript requests. That can be found here : tinyurl.com/ccpdoc19

We hosted a Q&A Night for students/parents who have already attended Wake Tech's information session. That presentation can be found here:

CCP at Wake Tech

In order to participate in CCP at Wake Tech, the first step is for the student and a parent/guardian to attend a mandatory information session at Wake Tech the semester before they plan on taking courses.  Without attending this information session, the student will not be able to participate in the program.  The student and parent will receive important information and required documents/forms at this session.  The link below shows the next available sessions:

CCP at CCCC

Apex High School is located in Wake County, but Central Carolina Community College is another option for tuition-free dual enrollment courses as well.

Students are responsible for the Distance Education Fee and the textbook/access code cost. They offer a ton of online class options. Their campus location is a better option for some of our students, so they do accept Apex High School students for CCP courses when there are available seats left in courses.

Applications are open for summer and fall of 2021.
In order to apply, simply have a 2.8 unweighted GPA or higher and email Mr. Hayes at jhayes2@wcpss.net by April 15th for Summer 2021 classes and June 1st for the Fall of 2021. Please include the best email address to reach you (and a parent). The sooner the better. Mr. Hayes will send in your unofficial transcript and then CCCC will email you a Docusign Online Application.
